Overview

The Asociación Chilena de Seguridad (ACHS) (Chilean Safety Association) is a non-profit company that manages various activities in the health sector aimed at workers nationwide.

They create and execute occupational safety and hygiene programs to promote the prevention of risks and accidents.

Also, as an insurer of workers, they must ensure the situation of those professionals who are unable to carry out their work, partially or permanently.

For this reason, there is a department dedicated solely to the management of economic benefits, where they carry out evaluations of different cases and assign cash benefits to replace the remuneration of physically challenged workers.

One of the main focuses of attention of this department is to evaluate the cases of pensioners (workers with disability equal to or greater than 40%), make monthly payments and report these payments to government entities.

Role and responsibilities

As a UX designer, I was able to research each of the profiles that would be involved in the platform to determine the best way to implement a solution.

To achieve this, I managed to interview 2 managers from the Economic Benefits area, 2 account analysts and work together with an administrative staff from the area to understand the processes that were being executed at that time.

As a UI designer, I was able to implement a design system created for use in internal platforms of the organization. In the same way, it was necessary to create new components and add them to this design system.

Objetives

Create a platform in 3 parts that would allow Pensioners (workers with disability equal to or greater than 40%), Case Analysts and Administrative Staff to manage disability and survival pensions.

Each profile with specific limitations to each role, being the Case Analyst the only User with all the roles available to manage, view cases and manage administrative and supervision requests.

The problem

To manage all the cases of pensioners, each user must carry out a particular process to guarantee their monthly payment.

For this, they must make a sworn statement for the year to indicate if they received any remuneration apart from the pension income. Then it must be evaluated and finally processed for payment.

All this process in regular times can last up to 2 weeks or more, since it is done manually and in person.

To carry out the data load, an unfriendly system (AS/400) is used, which means that only a few people could control the process for thousands of requests.

The solution

The challenge was to create a modern and user-friendly platform that could match the stability and reliability of the original system.

In the same way, a system should be created that would allow elderly users to view their information and perform actions on it within the platform, such as creating and managing their sworn statements, viewing, adding or deleting their dependents (other beneficiaries of their pension) and view the status of their request.

For the profiles that manage the information, it was necessary to create a series of flows and specific functions.

Such as being able to edit the information of the pensioners, upload lists of pension payments, send automatic reports to government entities, download reports and much more in the same platform and according to the assigned role.
